Our maize captures the energy of the sun. Grown on carefully selected farmland, it is a natural source of complex carbohydrates that provide energy throughout the day. Maize also contains fibre, B vitamins and antioxidants such as beta-carotene, making it a valuable part of a varied, balanced diet.
From Grain to Golden Flour: The Milling Process
Maize milling involves carefully separating the grain into its most valuable components. Using a mechanical process without chemical treatments, we produce natural, high-quality maize products designed to retain their freshness.
Thorough Cleaning and Preparation
Before milling, maize passes through air separators and magnetic systems to remove impurities. The grain is then gently conditioned with moisture to soften the outer layers and germ, preparing it for precise separation.
Degermination (Germ Removal)
This is a key stage of the process. Specialised degerminators mechanically separate the oil-rich germ and fibre-rich outer layers from the hard, starchy endosperm. This produces lower-fat milling products with improved storage stability and a longer shelf life.
Fractionation and Particle Size Classification
The cleaned endosperm passes through a series of milling rollers, gradually reducing it into smaller particles. Airflow and plansifter systems then separate the particles according to size.
Finished Products
The process produces our established maize milling range: brewing maize grits, maize grits, polenta, maize flour and maize feed flour.
